Pumba a venit cu mama lui și doi frați când eram în Epirul, pentru a 8-a acțiune de sterilizare. Ea avea doar o lună în timp ce era încă alăptată. Întreaga familie a venit cu noi la Atena. Micuțul a fost alăptat, a crescut, a crescut mai departe și a devenit un câine înalt, subțire și impresionant. Aceste culori și aceste desene pe fața lui îl fac să arate ca și cum ar purta un masca artistică. Era mereu foarte, foarte, foarte dulce bebeluș, iar în timp ce eram în acțiune a fost vasectomizat, era favoritul nostru, pentru că era cel mai rotund, cel mai resemnat și singurul dintre frați care nu era alb. În timp ce creștea, era întotdeauna cainele care nu lua inițiativa, dar încerca să imite restul puiilor. Dacă prietenii lui jucau cu un jucăuș, el încerca să joace și el. Dacă prietenii lui alergau, el alerga și el. Dacă prietenii lui se apropiau de oameni pentru atingeri, el se apropia și el, ultimul, cu o inocență și o ezitantă care era foarte drăguță. Dacă îl atingi, vei capta cel mai special blană disponibilă într-un câine (după părerea noastră!). Este densă, ondulată, deși nu prea lungă pentru a se înfășora, cu păr dur și prea dens. PREA dens. Degetele nu pot intra pentru a atinge pielea. Această blană de oaie combinată cu caracterul său inocent îl face special. Pumba este un câine care vrea să fie încrezător, dar nu știe cum. A fost excesiv dependent de fratele lui când era copil, apoi a început să se agațe de alți caieni din adăpost. Când este singur, nu este deloc încrezător, în timp ce când este alt câine pe plimbarea lui sau în spațiul lui, este mult mai deschis, și acest lucru este în cadrul caracterului său. Este câinele care va avea nevoie de timp să se deschidă și să-și câștige încrederea, dar va fi cooperant, chiar dacă este resemnat. Îl iubim foarte mult. Pumba came with his mother and two siblings when we were in Epirus for our 8th spay and neuter mission. He was only one month old at the time and was still nursing. The whole family came back to Athens with us. The little one was weaned, grew up, grew some more, and turned into a tall, lean, strikingly handsome dog. He was always an incredibly sweet baby. During the spay and neuter mission, he was everyone’s favorite because he was the chubbiest, the shyest, and the only one among his siblings who wasn’t pure white. As he grew up, he was always the puppy who wouldn’t take initiative on his own, but would try to copy the other puppies. If his friends were playing with a toy, he would try to play too. If they ran, he would run too. If they went up to people for cuddles, he would follow them, always last, with such innocence and hesitation that it made you want to hold him and tell him not to worry, not to be afraid, and that he was doing everything just right. If you touch him, you’ll feel what is, in our opinion, the most unique coat a dog can have. It’s dense, almost curly even though it’s not long enough to form curls, with coarse hair and an unbelievably thick undercoat. VERY thick. Your fingers can barely get through it to reach his skin. That sheep-like coat, combined with his innocent personality, makes him truly special. Pumba is a dog who wants to feel confident, but doesn’t quite know how yet. When he’s alone, he lacks confidence, but when another dog is around during walks or in his space, he becomes much more open and expressive. Still, this has slowly started to change. Pumba goes on walks regularly with our volunteers and has gradually become more affectionate and outgoing, even when there isn’t another dog beside him. He may still need some time to fully open up and trust, but he is cooperative despite his shyness. He has also stayed in a foster home, which helped us learn more about him. He is incredibly gentle and loving with the people who care for him, but hesitant around strangers. He’s not the kind of dog who gets excited when visitors come over, and ideally he shouldn’t be pressured into interacting with people he doesn’t trust. He bonds deeply with the person who takes care of him and spends the most time with him, and he may even remain cautious around family members he doesn’t know well. Pumba needs proper guidance and handling so his insecurities won’t stand in the way of his happiness. The ideal home for him would be a calm household without many people or small children. He could live with another dog, as long as there is balance and clear boundaries for both animals. VIDEO
