Pumba llegó con su mamá y dos hermanos cuando estábamos en Epiro, para la 8ª acción de esterilización. Ella tenía solo un mes de edad en ese momento y todavía estaba lactando. La familia completa vino con nosotros a Atenas. El más pequeño se desmamó, creció, creció aún más y se convirtió en un perro alto, delgado y impresionante. Estos colores y estos diseños en su cara lo hacen parecer que lleva una máscara artística. Siempre fue un bebé muy, muy, muy dulce, y mientras estábamos en la acción fue castrado, fue nuestro favorito, porque era el más regordete, el más tímido y el único de sus hermanos que no era blanco. Al crecer, siempre fue el perrito que no tomaba la iniciativa, pero trataba de imitar a los demás perritos. Si sus amigos jugaban con un juguete, él también trataba de jugar. Si sus amigos corrían, él también corría. Si sus amigos iban a las personas para recibir caricias, él también lo hacía, al final, con una inocencia y una duda que era muy tierna. Si lo tocas, encontrarás el pelaje más especial disponible en un perro (en nuestra opinión). Es denso, rizado, aunque no es largo para rizarse, con pelo duro y demasiado denso. DEMASIADO denso. Los dedos no caben para llegar a la piel. Este pelaje de oveja combinado con su carácter inocente lo hace especial. Pumba es un perro que quiere ser seguro, pero no sabe cómo. Estaba muy dependiente de su hermano cuando era bebé, y luego comenzó a aferrarse a otros perros en el refugio. Cuando está solo, no es nada seguro, mientras que cuando hay otro perro en su paseo o en su espacio, es mucho más abierto, y esto está dentro del marco de su personalidad. Es el perro que necesitará tiempo para abrirse y ganar confianza, pero será cooperativo, incluso si es tímido. Lo amamos mucho. Pumba came with his mother and two siblings when we were in Epirus for our 8th spay and neuter mission. He was only one month old at the time and was still nursing. The whole family came back to Athens with us. The little one was weaned, grew up, grew some more, and turned into a tall, lean, strikingly handsome dog. He was always an incredibly sweet baby. During the spay and neuter mission, he was everyone’s favorite because he was the chubbiest, the shyest, and the only one among his siblings who wasn’t pure white. As he grew up, he was always the puppy who wouldn’t take initiative on his own, but would try to copy the other puppies. If his friends were playing with a toy, he would try to play too. If they ran, he would run too. If they went up to people for cuddles, he would follow them, always last, with such innocence and hesitation that it made you want to hold him and tell him not to worry, not to be afraid, and that he was doing everything just right. If you touch him, you’ll feel what is, in our opinion, the most unique coat a dog can have. It’s dense, almost curly even though it’s not long enough to form curls, with coarse hair and an unbelievably thick undercoat. VERY thick. Your fingers can barely get through it to reach his skin. That sheep-like coat, combined with his innocent personality, makes him truly special. Pumba is a dog who wants to feel confident, but doesn’t quite know how yet. When he’s alone, he lacks confidence, but when another dog is around during walks or in his space, he becomes much more open and expressive. Still, this has slowly started to change. Pumba goes on walks regularly with our volunteers and has gradually become more affectionate and outgoing, even when there isn’t another dog beside him. He may still need some time to fully open up and trust, but he is cooperative despite his shyness. He has also stayed in a foster home, which helped us learn more about him. He is incredibly gentle and loving with the people who care for him, but hesitant around strangers. He’s not the kind of dog who gets excited when visitors come over, and ideally he shouldn’t be pressured into interacting with people he doesn’t trust. He bonds deeply with the person who takes care of him and spends the most time with him, and he may even remain cautious around family members he doesn’t know well. Pumba needs proper guidance and handling so his insecurities won’t stand in the way of his happiness. The ideal home for him would be a calm household without many people or small children. He could live with another dog, as long as there is balance and clear boundaries for both animals. VIDEO
