Abbey

Cavapoo · Female · Young · 1 year

I can live with older, dog savvy teenagers, aged 13+ who respect my space. I need a doggy friend in my new home. I haven’t met cats so I’m unsure. I'd like a secure garden to exercise in I haven't tried walks yet, a secure garden will be fine for now. Please be patient with me, I need to learn house training and lead walking I've started my vaccinations and will be spayed before adoption. 22-10-26 Abbey is a sweet little girl who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. She gets excited to see us when we enter her kennel, but she can quickly lose her confidence and run away. She is easy to pick up and is a very gentle girl who shows her playful side when she is with her kennel friends. Abbey is a lovely little soul who will need time and patience to help her feel safe and build her confidence around people. Abbey gets on wonderfully with her kennel friends and relies on their company for comfort, so she will need a kind resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. As Abbey has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, lead training and the other basics of home life. Her new family will need to be understanding and allow her to settle at her own pace, helping her discover the joys of being a much-loved member of the family. She can live with dog-savvy older teens, who are sensible and will allow her time to settle in. Her adopters will need experience with ex-breeders to better understand her needs. With patience, kindness and a friendly canine companion by her side, we hope Abbey will gradually grow in confidence and show her family just how special she is. Abbey has been given the Gift of Life by Lesley Beattie This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Abbey

What life with Abbey looks like

Abbey is a young adult cavapoo dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in United Kingdom.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Abbey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Abbey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Abbey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Abbey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Abbey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Abbey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Abbey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
