Abby

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Abby – a gentle sunbeam seeks her forever home Abby is an incredibly friendly, loving female dog who longs to finally find her place. She greets people openly and warmly, is very cuddly, and relishes closeness and affection. Whether adults or children – Abby always shows friendliness and attentiveness. With other dogs, Abby is absolutely uncomplicated: she gets along with all, avoids conflicts, and has never been involved in any disputes. Cats also belong to her naturally. Thus, she is a true social talent and perfect for multi-pet households. In everyday life, Abby shows many great qualities: she walks calmly on a leash, rides in the car without a problem, and is a very clean female dog. In her kennel, she keeps order – blankets and water bowls stay in place, and her area is almost always clean. This speaks to her good adaptability and calm nature. Visually and character-wise, a herding dog mix could be in Abby. Dogs with a HSH (Hundeschutz) component are considered calm, vigilant, and independent – they need people with patience, understanding, and a loving, consistent approach. In a quiet environment, Abby can especially thrive. She occasionally shows a small insecurity towards older men with canes – likely triggered by negative experiences in her past. In her home village, dogs were unfortunately not always well-treated. But despite everything, Abby has kept her big heart and greets the world mostly openly and friendly. Her story is sad: Abby lived with her mother and sister in a village. When neighbors complained about stray dogs, Abby and her mother were caught – precisely because they were so friendly and willingly stepped into the transport box. Her sister had already traveled to Germany and begun a new, safe life there. Now, Abby awaits her chance. Abby has also overcome some health challenges: she was infected with heartworms, which were successfully treated, and she is now considered healthy. Due to a previous accident, her thigh bone is shortened, causing her to limp slightly. However, this does not restrict her much – Abby is lively, curious, and loves to be on the go. We are happy to explain more in a personal conversation. – Sensitive people with a heart, preferably as a foster home – A quiet home, ideally rural – With a garden – that would be a total jackpot for her – People who give her time to settle in and build trust Abby is a sunbeam on four legs – gentle, social, cuddly, and simply lovable. ✨ Who will finally give her the place where she is welcome and can stay forever?

DE·Show original

About Abby

What life with Abby looks like

Abby is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Abby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Abby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Abby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Abby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Abby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Abby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Abby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
