Ada Lovelace

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Ada Lovelace – a little magic cat with a built-in surprise mode. Ada, born around May 2025, had very little contact with humans before her time at the foster home. And yet—or perhaps precisely because of that—today she’s a wonderful little contradiction on four paws. Because Ada has decided that people are actually quite nice. At least most of the time. Nowadays, she even actively asks for petting. Still, somewhere inside her seems to have been lost a tiny hippogriff: sometimes she’ll first eye an outstretched hand skeptically... and then cautiously nudge it with her paw. Just to be safe. You never know. But once you’ve figured out her secret greeting formula—simply hold your hand loosely downward—Ada will come closer curiously, nudge her little head against it, and absolutely insist on being petted. And then she really enjoys it—until suddenly she remembers again that touch is still a bit spooky. A little pool of opposites, indeed. Ada is a young cat with character, wit, and plenty of room to grow. She’s looking for people who have patience and a sense of humor—people who not only accept her little quirks but learn to love them. In general, she enjoys being around other cats, though ultimately, compatibility depends very much on individual chemistry. If someone doesn’t suit her, she’ll give a polite hiss now and then. That’s why it would be especially lovely if she could move in together with her sister Florence—or with a compatible cat. After sufficient acclimatization, Ada would certainly enjoy having outdoor access, though it’s not strictly necessary. Brief overview: • Born: around May 2025 • Personality: playful, contradictory, curious, charmingly cheeky • Behavior: actively seeks petting, yet sometimes still gets startled by touch • Special feature: “Hippogriff energy”—sometimes she’ll cautiously swat at things • Social behavior: gets along well with other cats, depending on mutual affinity.

Sicherheitshalber. Man weiß ja nie.

About Ada Lovelace

What life with Ada Lovelace looks like

Ada Lovelace is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Stendal in Stendal.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ada Lovelace, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ada Lovelace?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Stendal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ada Lovelace on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ada Lovelace if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Stendal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ada Lovelace already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ada Lovelace isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Stendal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ada Lovelace and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
