Adopt Blondie

Greyhound · Male · Adult · 7 years

Blondie, a calm, gentle black boy who arrived in Kildare yesterday, found the sofa and the big bed within hours and has already set his sights on the stairs. What his foster pawrents say: 'Blondie is a calm, friendly and affectionate boy who is settling in wonderfully.' Blondie is a four-year-old black greyhound who left kennel life behind and arrived in his Kildare foster home just yesterday. He came in calm, friendly and ready to explore, which tells you a lot about his character. Within hours he had found the sofa and tested out the big bed. The stairs are next on his list. Resident hound Snowie has been on hand to show him the ropes and the two are getting along beautifully. He's only just arrived, so more updates are on the way. But the early signs are very promising indeed. Blondie has only just begun his foster journey but he's already showing us what a lovely boy he is. Calm, affectionate and quietly confident, he's taking everything in his stride from the very start. 💛 Handsome black boy with a calm, friendly nature.🛋️ Found the sofa and the big bed within hours of arriving.🐕 Settled in beautifully alongside resident hound Snowie.🦮 A relaxed gentleman on the lead with great recall.😴 Settling into his sleep routine.🚽 House training in progress.🌍 Getting used to everyday sounds on local walks.✨ Still discovering toys and play. 📝 More updates coming as Blondie settles. A huge thank you to Yvette and George for opening their home to Blondie and giving him such a warm and loving start. A special mention to resident hound Snowie too, for showing him the ropes from day one. Thank you also to transport volunteers Caroline and Tony, whose time and generosity made Blondie's journey to foster care possible. RIGHT is a volunteer-run, foster-based organisation founded in 2019, dedicated to finding loving homes for Irish greyhounds here in Ireland. Every greyhound in our care lives in a real home with an experienced foster family before adoption. This means that by the time you meet a RIGHT hound, they are already house-trained, used to home comforts and showing you exactly who they are. Our foster families give us a real picture of each hound's personality, routines and needs, so we can match the right hound with the right home. We also host regular meet and greet events across Ireland, giving you the chance to meet our hounds in a relaxed, friendly setting. View some of our hounds looking for homes here. Greyhounds are one of the most misunderstood breeds around. They're gentle, quiet and surprisingly easy to live with. Two short walks a day, a warm bed and a bit of company is really all they ask for. • Two short walks a day, then back to the couch.• Quiet and calm, with a playful side that catches you off guard.• Low maintenance coat and very easy to groom.• Adaptable to most homes and lifestyles.• Full of personality: roaching, sighing and being adorably odd. Once a greyhound chooses you, you'll wonder how you ever managed without one. Learn more about greyhounds here. If you'd like to meet Blondie or any of our other hounds, complete our adoption enquiry form and we'll get back to you. We'd love to help you find your perfect match.

About Adopt Blondie

What life with Adopt Blondie looks like

Adopt Blondie is a large adult greyhound dog waiting at RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team in Dublin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Blondie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Blondie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Blondie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Blondie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adopt Blondie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Blondie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RIGHT - Rehoming Irish Greyhounds Team early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Blondie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
