Adopt Casper

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Handsome Casper is a young Border Collie who is still learning that the world isn’t quite as scary as it can sometimes seem. Having had limited experiences so far, new people, places and situations can feel a little overwhelming, but he has made some lovely progress in foster care and is beginning to show his sweet personality. Casper takes lots of confidence from his canine friends and loves having his foster siblings close by. Whether he’s following them around or curling up for a peaceful snooze alongside them, their presence clearly helps him to feel safe. Because of this, Casper will need to live with a confident adult dog who can help him settle and show him the ropes, subject to a successful introduction at the centre. He may also be able to live with dog-savvy, confident cats. His new family will need to give Casper plenty of time to adjust, allowing him to take new experiences at his own pace. A calm, patient approach, positive reinforcement and lots of encouragement will help him continue building his confidence. As Casper becomes more comfortable, we expect his Border Collie traits to shine through and for him to grow into an active, fun-loving companion who will enjoy exploring the world with his family. Casper would be best suited to an older family where everyone understands that he may need some quiet time and space while settling in. Due to his young age, he will also need someone around for the majority of the day to support him with house training, settling into home life and developing his confidence. Casper has lots of potential and, with the right support, we’re sure he’ll blossom into a wonderful companion. Watching him discover new experiences and grow in confidence will be a very special journey for his forever family. About Adopt Casper

What life with Adopt Casper looks like

Adopt Casper is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Casper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Casper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Casper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Casper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adopt Casper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Casper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Casper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
