Adopt Claude

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Claude can be a little nervous when meeting new people and may take some time to feel comfortable, but it doesn’t take him long to start coming around. Once he has built that trust, his loving and goofy nature really shines through. He’s a gentle soul who enjoys having his people nearby and can often be found leaning against their feet or simply watching the world go by. Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross Claude loves his long, sniffy walks and would make a lovely adventure companion for someone who enjoys getting out and about exploring woodlands and the countryside. He would also enjoy plenty of interactive enrichment at home, with tug toys and tasty treats such as hot dogs being particular favourites. Claude is looking for an adult-only home with an experienced family who can take things at his pace and give him the space he needs to feel comfortable. Claude would prefer to be the only dog in the home. He can enjoy the company of calm dogs when introduced slowly, but he can be worried by dogs rushing up to him. He is also not suitable to live with cats or small furries. Claude is a lovely calm boy who enjoys having a comfortable place to settle and watch the world go by. He would benefit from a predictable routine that gives him a balance of enjoyable walks, enrichment and plenty of time to relax. Claude has so much to offer. Once he knows and trusts you, his gentle, affectionate personality is incredibly special, and we think he’ll make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a walking buddy with a softer side. About Adopt Claude

What life with Adopt Claude looks like

Adopt Claude is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Claude, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Claude?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Claude on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Claude if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Adopt Claude already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Claude isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Claude and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
