Adopt Jean-Paul

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Say hello to Jean-Paul, or JP as he is affectionately known to his friends. At just six months old, JP found himself living life as a stray. When he first arrived with us, he was a very worried and scared little boy who didn't understand where he was or what was happening around him. Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross With some slow and gentle introductions, the help of soft toys and plenty of tasty treats, JP is beginning to gain in confidence and is learning that the world isn't quite so scary after all. As he becomes more comfortable, we're starting to see glimpses of the cheeky puppy hiding underneath that worried exterior. JP is looking for adopters who can commit to multiple meets at the centre, giving him the time he needs to get to know you, build trust and develop a relationship before he's ready to come home. We are unsure whether JP has ever experienced life in a home environment, so household noises and all the new sights and sounds that come with family life may initially feel a little overwhelming for him. He could potentially live with another confident and well-matched dog who can help show him the ropes and give him some reassurance as he discovers the outside world. His new home will ideally have access to quiet walking routes away from busy roads and bustling areas, allowing him to build his confidence at his own pace. Due to JP's worried nature, he would be best suited to a quieter, older family environment with children who understand that confidence takes time and are happy to let him progress at his own pace. Once he has built a relationship with you, his cheeky puppy personality really starts to shine, and he loves nothing more than zooming around with his favourite soft toys. JP is looking for a patient and understanding family who can give him the routine, reassurance and time he needs to continue blossoming. In return, we hope they'll get to watch a very special little boy discover just how wonderful life can be. About Adopt Jean-Paul

What life with Adopt Jean-Paul looks like

Adopt Jean-Paul is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Jean-Paul, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Jean-Paul?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Jean-Paul on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Jean-Paul if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adopt Jean-Paul already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Jean-Paul isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Jean-Paul and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
