Adopt Tarzan

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Tarzan may not be ready to swing straight into family life, but with a little patience and understanding, this handsome boy will be bursting with excitement when he sees his favourite people. Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross Like his namesake, Tarzan can be cautious when entering a new jungle and is a little shy when meeting new people. Once he feels safe and settled, however, he transforms into the most affectionate and enthusiastic companion, greeting those he loves with plenty of excitement and showing off his wonderfully goofy personality. Still learning the ropes of the world around him, Tarzan enjoys the occasional play session and will happily treasure any toy gifted to him once he feels comfortable enough to let his playful side emerge. It doesn't take vines and vines of toys to make him happy – just a little time and trust. Tarzan is searching for a quiet, adult-only home with patient adopters who understand his sensitive nature. Those willing to help him navigate the jungle of everyday life will be rewarded with a complete 180 into a loving and loyal best friend. He would do best to live with another friendly canine companion who would be happy to help him branch out and build confidence through play, while also understanding when Tarzan may need a little space to himself, pending a few meets at the centre to get to know each other. Tarzan tries hard to keep his kennel clean, and we feel he will pick up house training quickly. Due to his worried nature, a home with a secure garden is a must, giving him a safe place to monkey around and gain confidence at his own pace. Prospective adopters should be prepared for several meets at the centre, as Tarzan likes to take things one vine at a time and build strong bonds before heading off to his forever home. With patience, love and understanding, this gorgeous boy will soon be king of your jungle and the perfect companion for all of life's adventures Published: 23rd June, 2026 Updated: 19th September, 2026 Author: Katrina Hyde Sign up to take part in Cardiff's iconic Half Marathon as part of Enjoy fantastic live local bands, festive games, special guests and mince pies. About Adopt Tarzan

What life with Adopt Tarzan looks like

Adopt Tarzan is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope Rescue in Pontyclun.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adopt Tarzan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adopt Tarzan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adopt Tarzan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adopt Tarzan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adopt Tarzan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adopt Tarzan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adopt Tarzan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
