Hello everyone, I'm Denver! Who will give me a warm home? I was brought in as a stray to our shelter. Everyone thought that someone would surely miss such a handsome young guy like me, but unfortunately, my owner has never come forward. I'm an Australian Shepherd around 2.5 years old with a lot of white in my coat. The caretakers noticed right away that my eyes are a bit off and that I sometimes react a bit slower to my surroundings. After some investigation, it was found that I likely have very poor to no vision and hearing on my right side. Thankfully, my left eye and left ear are still functioning, though the caretakers can't guarantee that will continue in the future. Despite my limitations, I'm a young, enthusiastic, and eager-to-learn dog who thoroughly enjoys life! I go super happy on walks. On the leash, I still pull a bit. Sometimes I bark at things on the street that I can't quite assess well; I can't see everything as clearly, which can make me a bit unsure of what's happening around me. I'm actually just a very social and affectionate guy. I love attention and am happiest when I'm close to you. At the moment, I get eye drops twice a day. On Friday, I have a final check-up with the vet to see if I can continue with this. For me, we're looking for a quiet and predictable environment. Since I see and hear less, I can be more easily startled by unexpected situations. Therefore, a calm home without a lot of hustle and bustle fits me best. It's important that my new parents understand my situation and can provide the right guidance and support, including for the future. I'm very social with other dogs, provided they are also friendly towards me. Placing me with a stable and quiet dog friend is certainly one of the possibilities. Due to my limited sight and hearing, I'm not preferred for placement in a home with cats or very young children. Hallo allemaal, ik ben Denver! Wie geeft mij een warm thuis? Ik werd als zwerver binnengebracht bij het asiel. Iedereen dacht dat iemand zo’n knappe jongen als ik vast wel zou missen, maar helaas heeft mijn eigenaar zich nooit gemeld. Ik ben een Australian Shepherd van ongeveer 2,5 jaar oud met veel wit in mijn vacht. De verzorgers merkten al snel dat mijn ogen wat afwijkend staan en dat ik soms wat trager reageer op mijn omgeving. Na onderzoek bleek dat ik aan mijn rechterkant vermoedelijk heel slecht tot niks zie en hoor. Gelukkig doen mijn linkeroog en linkeroor het nog wel, al kunnen de verzorgers niet garanderen dat dit in de toekomst zo blijft. Ondanks mijn beperkingen ben ik een jonge, enthousiaste en leergierige hond die volop geniet van het leven! Ik ga supergraag mee wandelen. Aan de riem trek ik nog wel een beetje. Soms kan ik op straat blaffen naar dingen die ik niet goed kan inschatten; ik zie het natuurlijk niet allemaal even scherp, waardoor ik soms een beetje onzeker word van wat er om me heen gebeurt. Eigenlijk ben ik gewoon een heel sociale en aanhankelijke kerel. Ik ben dol op aandacht en ben het liefst gezellig bij je in de buurt. Op dit moment krijg ik twee keer per dag oogdruppels. Vrijdag heb ik nog een laatste controle bij de dierenarts om te kijken of ik hier mee door moet gaan. Voor mij zoeken we een rustige en voorspelbare omgeving. Omdat ik minder zie en hoor, kan ik namelijk sneller schrikken van onverwachte situaties. Een kalm thuis zonder hectiek past daarom het beste bij mij. Het is belangrijk dat mijn nieuwe baasjes begrip hebben voor mijn situatie en mij de juiste begeleiding en ondersteuning kunnen bieden, ook met het oog op de toekomst. Ik ben erg sociaal naar andere honden, mits zij natuurlijk ook vriendelijk op mij reageren. Een plaatsing bij een stabiel en rustig hondenvriendje behoort dan ook zeker tot de mogelijkheden. Vanwege mijn beperkte zicht en gehoor word ik daarentegen liever niet geplaatst in een huis met katten of hele jonge kinderen.
