Alain

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Alain was born around 03/2024 and is about 45 cm tall and weighs roughly 15 kg. We rescued him, along with several other dogs, from the terrible kill shelter in Alexandria, where euthanasia is carried out consistently after 14 days of stay. After he was checked over at the clinic, he now lives with many other dogs in Romania with an animal welfare volunteer. Unfortunately, we know nothing at all about Alain's background. With the animal welfare volunteer, he shows himself to be an open and friendly young dog. He approaches people and enjoys being touched. He likes to play with the other dogs there and gets along very well with them. Unfortunately, in his short life Alain has not yet had the chance to get to know much. Who would like to deepen the dog ABCs with him and show him how wonderful life as a dog can be? We look forward to your inquiries! Alain has been examined by a veterinarian, dewormed, treated for fleas, microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, and tested for Mediterranean diseases, including leishmaniasis, and has an EU pet passport and Traces registration. The adoption fee is €595.

About Alain

What life with Alain looks like

Alain is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierrettung International e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alain, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alain?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierrettung International e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alain on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alain if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierrettung International e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Alain already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alain isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierrettung International e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alain and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
