adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Alf has found a home! His story: Alf is one of eight siblings – together with Tonda, Ida, Joey, Tashiko, Roberto, Sabsi, and Akashi, he was rescued from very poor living conditions by the Animal Police. The puppies lived with their mother with a man who kept them in inhumane conditions. Our animal welfare worker Dorel immediately agreed to take the family into the shelter in Busag, but only the eight puppies were brought in. The mother dog had to stay with the owner, who received a fine and was ordered to neuter her and improve the husbandry. We still hope to take her in someday. Alf is about four months old and shows himself in the shelter as a cheerful, inquisitive young puppy. He plays, runs, and romps with his siblings, as a healthy, young puppy should. Alf is open and full of life. Visually, Alf is a real looker: he sports beautiful brown fur with black accents, two white front paws that look like socks, and a large white spot on his snout – his little "lightning nose," which makes him instantly recognizable. We assume, like with his siblings, that he is a German Shepherd mix that will grow to be medium to large when fully grown. The mother weighs about 20 kg. German Shepherds are loyal, intelligent, and hard-working dogs who thrive both physically and mentally. Alf will therefore be happy with people who like to be on the go, have an interest in dog training classes, games of hide and seek, tricks, and shared activities, and can also provide him with structure and calm. Soon, Alf will be entering the young dog puberty phase. In this phase, rules are often tested again, and some learned things may temporarily be forgotten. We therefore wish for Alf a family that guides him through this time with loving consistency, patience, and humor, helping him grow into a reliable companion. Alf travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home. He will of course bring his EU pet passport with him. Do you fulfill Alf's wish? He would also be very happy to enter his new life through a foster home. Many thanks Nicole C.! You not only gave Alf his name but also assumed a monthly sponsorship for him. Status: 05.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Alf

What life with Alf looks like

Alf is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alf, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alf?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alf on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alf if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alf already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alf isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alf and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
