Alfie

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Calling all Shepherd lovers ! – Alfie is a 7yrs young German Shepherd looking for his forever home through German Shepherd Elite in Nottinghamshire. Described as the perfect gentleman, looking for a quiet and calm household with people he can grow to trust that will allow him his own space to chill and do his own thing. Alfie has recently discovered walks in the countryside and paddling in rivers, and boy does he enjoy it ! – so if you are a walker and love a good stroll through the woods, then Alfie could be your man. Check out a couple of Alfies current favourite walks here and here He has spent too long in kennels and when he went to stay with a lovely foster mummy recuperating after being neutered, Alfie showed a completely different side to his nature, where he shone and settled into domestic life. This is the life Alfie now needs forever. He loved nothing more than playing in the garden. You can his playful side and how much he loves it here. Alfie can be strong on the lead when walked with others and will need a firm hand. He is good boy if you want to take him with you for a trip to the local pub and will settle nicely whilst you finish your drinks ! Alfie is not an overly affectionate dog especially when he first meets anyone, preferring to take his time to size you up, but once he knows he can trust you, you have a friend for life and a true companion He isn't a party boy either, he's more of a slippers and pipe guy that likes quiet evenings in in front of the TV with his favourite humans . Check out Alfie preparing his bed to settle down in here. He is well mannered and polite and will offer his paw for treats. He isn't overly bothered about other dogs and therefore he would like a home where he is the only dog. No cats and any children should be aged 14yrs+ and sensible and respectful. Alfie is an adorable boy that needs people that won't hurry him, that will give him space to grow into, but to also show him leadership so that his confidence will grow, and once this happens he will make the most wonderful companion and friend for life. ——————————————————— If you think you might be what handsome Alfie is looking for , please contact German Shepherd Rescue Elite by reading about their HERE… …and filling in their adoption and fostering form HERE. About Alfie

What life with Alfie looks like

Alfie is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alfie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alfie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alfie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alfie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Alfie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alfie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alfie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
