Alfie

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Gorgeous Alfie is an 11 year 8 month, male (neutered), white, Pomeranian/Japanese Spitz and is looking for a new home due to his owner's personal circumstances. He is currently living in Hook, Hampshire, and would like to find his new, forever home as soon as possible. Alfie is said to be the most loyal dog that his owner has ever had. He is a very energetic boy and he is walked two or even three times a day. He can stay alone at home without destroying anything, though he does get stressed if left for a couple of hours and will bark if he hears a noise. Alfie's issue is that he barks as he does not like being left alone. He also tends to whine when getting into the car, though he can be transported on short trips without any major issues. Alfie is used to being around other dogs and can live with them. When he is not on a lead he is quite friendly and on the lead he sometimes barks. He has lived with a cat, since it was a kitten and they got along well. However, it's not known how he would react to other cats. He is not used to living with children, so an adult home with someone around most of the time would be preferable. Alfie is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He has no known medical issues. Alfie is being rehomed privately by his owner, who has confirmed she will take Alfie back if his new home doesn't work out for any reason. Prospective adopters will be carefully homechecked. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ If you have the perfect home for adorable Alfie, please contact his owner as follows: Email: Please mention that you saw Alfie listed as a private rehoming on the Oldies Club website. Oldies Club suggests you read our article Questions for Adopters which is written to help people who are planning to adopt a dog from a private owner rather than a rescue.

About Alfie

What life with Alfie looks like

Alfie is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alfie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alfie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alfie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alfie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alfie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alfie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alfie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
