Adopt Alwine

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Name of the Animal: Dobermann-Viszla-Mix Age of the Animal: 2.5 years Origin: Ganderkesee, Germany Character Description: a delicate whirlwind, full of energy and temperament. She finds it hard to concentrate and is often unsure. Moreover, Alwine does not like to learn. As soon as she is supposed to walk on a leash, for example, she is overwhelmed. She spins around and wants to make all the decisions herself. She loves freedom, then her world is mostly in order. But when she is corrected and regulated by a human, she quickly communicates by biting. Neutered? Microchipped? Vaccinated? All: Yes. How does the animal live with you, what is it used to? She lives in a family setting with two other dogs and an 8-year-old child. In the house, she knows the den and clear rules, such as feeding, exercise, and behavior. What are your expectations for the new home? A fenced and secured property where she can stay awake, bark, and be Alwine. Lots of peace and no overstimulation. No children in the household. No beginner dog!!! Due to a cruciate ligament injury that was operated on and is healing, only controlled playing and running are possible. Mediation conditions? Alwine will be given everything she has with me. Bite protection, leash, harness, collar. I would be happy to include her den with her basket. I also bring 5kg of dog food. I do not consider a mediation fee appropriate for an appropriate owner. What is most important to me is that Alwine can live! Contact possibility for interested parties:

About Alwine

What life with Alwine looks like

Alwine is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at ASPCA Friesoythe and surroundings in Saterland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alwine, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alwine?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ASPCA Friesoythe and surroundings handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alwine on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alwine if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ASPCA Friesoythe and surroundings will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alwine already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alwine isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ASPCA Friesoythe and surroundings early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alwine and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
