Amrita

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Origin Country: Hungary The beautiful Amrita was found on March 9, 2026, wandering aimlessly with Anetta in the community of Lajosmizse and reported to the animal shelter. Why the two were traveling alone, we will never know, as they were not missed and no chip was found on either Amrita or Anetta. Even after all these years, it remains incomprehensible and unimaginable what could have happened. Amrita and Anetta were lucky in misfortune and now await "behind bars" the opportunity to travel to a new, happy life with people who will never leave them and show them how beautiful life can be. Amrita and Anetta do not have to be rehomed together. Amrita is a grateful, friendly, and loving female dog, slightly shy at first, needing time to trust someone. She has undoubtedly had her share of experiences and was not always welcome in her search for help and food. With patience, understanding, and cuddles, she slowly warms up, and when she knows someone, she is a loyal and clingy four-legged friend. She needs a lot of love and security. Her new people should give Amrita security and gradually introduce her to the everyday things of life. She wants to be pleased and wants to be challenged and supported so that she can develop into a wonderful and loyal companion. Certainly, at the right time, she would have enjoyed sporting activities and would have been a great companion for jogging, cycling, hiking, etc. Amrita is a smart four-legged friend, and her new people should enjoy teaching her a few things, as Amrita knows nothing of the dog ABC. We are sure that Amrita will be eager and enthusiastic when her two-leggeds sit her at the desk and practice with her, then she will quickly catch up on what she missed. She gets along well with her fellow animals and is currently (April 16, 2026) integrated into a mixed pack. For our charming Amrita, we are looking for enthusiastic dog lovers who will love, value, and respect her. Loving people who will make up for what Amrita missed with her, showing her what it feels like to have a caring home, her own food bowl, a soft bed, and people who will spoil her with many cuddles, exciting walks, dog-appropriate mental stimulation, and full family integration. On April 27, 2026, a voluntary, Hungarian helper wrote: "Amrita is a loving, friendly, and people-oriented female dog. She loves people very much and actively seeks their proximity to spend as much time with them as possible. She is cuddly and very clingy. She also enjoys grooming her coat, and it is important to her that she receives attention and is given attention. Amrita lives with several other dogs in a kennel and has integrated well into the group. She is well-handled on the leash." Whom should Amrita give her heart to? Amrita is ready to travel.

DE·Show original

About Amrita

What life with Amrita looks like

Amrita is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amrita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amrita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amrita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amrita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amrita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amrita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amrita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
