Adopt Amy

Jack Russell Terrier · Female · Puppy · 8 months

Amy is a young female dog with a lot of personality, charm, and a healthy portion of temperament. The mix of French Bulldog and Jack Russell Terrier is evident: intelligent, attentive, brave, and sometimes quite independent. Anyone who meets Amy quickly realizes that there’s a clever little head in a small package, eager to be nurtured. With her people, Amy is very clingy and people-oriented. She enjoys closeness, loves shared adventures, and regularly brings joy with her playful nature. At the same time, she needs a home with clear structures and people who can provide her with security and orientation. Currently, an area where intensive work is still being done is her behavior on walks. Amy has learned in the past to bark at everything and everyone outside. This behavior has become established and, of course, won’t disappear overnight. We are already training her on this, and she is making progress, but she still needs people with patience, understanding, and the willingness to continue the training. Generally, Amy still needs a lot of work on her frustration tolerance and impulse control. Currently, Amy lives with one of our employees and her three dogs at home. She is generally compatible with her fellow animals but tends to strongly assert her trusted people and resources for herself. We are of course working on this issue. Amy is active and playful, wants to explore the world, and seeks people who are willing to work and grow with her. In her previous home, Amy already lived with a cat and a child. If there are children in the new home, they should be at least ten years old due to her stormy nature. Amy is not a beginner dog. For her, we are looking for breed-experienced people with a strong temperament who enjoy continuing to train her and working consistently on her issues. Ideally, this should happen with the guidance of a dog trainer, so that Amy receives the best possible support and continues to develop positively.

About Amy

What life with Amy looks like

Amy is a puppy/kitten jack russell terrier dog waiting at BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
