Andur

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

On September 4, 2025, at 2:00 AM in the night, Andur was hit by a car. The staff from AGES (a volunteer animal and environmental welfare organization in Olbia) helped him and stayed by his side all night: because after midnight, no veterinarian was available. At 6:30 AM, Andur arrived at the this breed shelter. He had an open fracture as well as additional fractures in his front and hind legs and was immediately taken to the clinic, where he was admitted for inpatient care. The dog was microchipped, which led to his owner. However, the owner had given the dog to a friend four months earlier because he could no longer cope with the dog in his apartment. That night, Andur had jumped over the gate, landed on the street, and was hit by a car. As expected, neither the former nor the current owner wanted the dog back, nor were they willing to contribute to the surgical costs. One could also find another solution. Of course, this was not an option for the decision-makers in the LIDA. Everything should be done for Andur: surgeries, pain therapy, physiotherapy, to ensure a safe recovery. On September 5, Andur underwent his first operation. On September 19, the second operation took place. The procedures were successful. A plate was inserted to fix the fractures, and despite the pain he endured, Andur showed an extraordinary willpower. The recovery process, however, required a lot of time, attention, perseverance, and patience. For Andur had to first learn to walk again in small steps. During our visit to the LIDA shelter in late October 2025, we got to know Andur. He sat in a small box on the covered patio, near the ambulatory. As we approached, he immediately pressed against the bars and was happy when we stroked his head through the bars. His sad eyes moved us deeply, even though we didn't know his story at that moment. Later, after we had photographed all the new dogs Marco introduced us to, he asked if we could meet one more dog that was very dear to everyone in the shelter, hoping we could also find a good home for this dog. Of course, we said yes, and so Andur was let into the small run, and we learned about what had happened to the poor fellow. Andur was naturally very happy to be able to run a little in the small run. He spends the whole day in his box otherwise, except for short walks. Our patience was also tested when we had to keep still for the photos, but we were happy to see the obvious joy of life that Andur radiated. Andur is doing well now, only a few small wounds from the accident as well as the surgical interventions still remain. But they will certainly heal soon. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Andur

What life with Andur looks like

Andur is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Andur, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Andur?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Andur on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Andur if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Andur already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Andur isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Andur and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
