Angel

Female Β· Adult Β· 4 years

Meet Angel: The journey to trust begins with a calm foundation Angel is estimated to be 4 years old and brings a nice, mature calm with her. She has long left behind the busy, restless teenage years, giving her a very stable foundation. Because she has been in the shelter for so long, she has never known the luxury of a real home of her own. The domestic life in the Netherlands or Belgium will therefore be completely new to her. Things like complete toilet training, walking nicely on a leash on the street and getting used to daily household sounds (such as the TV and vacuum cleaner) she will have to learn from scratch. We are looking for adopters for her who give her the time and space to acclimatize at her own pace. People who 'read' her, understand what she needs and let her land without expectations. Our experience is that these shy dogs turn out to be the most loyal and grateful companions for life. Given her shy nature and the fact that she can quickly get scared of new impressions at first, a well-fenced, safe and quiet garden in her new home is a hard requirement. Here she can unwind in peace and be safe outside without the stress of the busy street.

About Angel

What life with Angel looks like

Angel is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue in Meppel (NL-wide).

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡³πŸ‡±Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Angel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Angel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Angel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Angel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Angel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Angel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Angel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
