Sem

Male · Young · 2 years

Meet Sem: The ultimate good guy who is ready for big happiness after many setbacks! This handsome 2-year-old male weighs 20 kg and is a beautiful, sturdy medium-sized dog. Sem was narrowly rescued from a Romanian euthanasia shelter a while ago. Unfortunately, the misery didn't stop there: the castration performed in the euthanasia shelter was so terribly done that this poor boy immediately had to undergo another heavy recovery operation. It says everything about Sem's golden character that despite all this pain and fear, he never lost his trust in the world. He is the kindness itself, is extremely social with everyone and loves the company around him. Sem has emptied his backpack, has his sights on the future and is now officially ready to move to his own forever home.

About Sem

What life with Sem looks like

Sem is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue in Meppel (NL-wide).

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sem, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sem?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sem on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sem if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sem already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sem isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sem and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
