Hope

Male Β· Young Β· 2 years

Hope was born on October 1, 2024, and has grown into a beautiful, robust large dog (over 50 cm shoulder height). He is an active and energetic young dog who loves to run, play, explore, and learn. However, the days in the shelter are monotonous and he can hardly release his youthful energy and intelligence. Since Hope has been in the shelter since puppyhood, he is not familiar with life in a real home. Things like toilet training, walking nicely on a leash on the street, and the sounds of a household (such as the TV and vacuum cleaner) are completely foreign to him. We are looking for adoptive parents who want to coach him in his new life with patience, love, and positive, clear guidance. Given his intelligent and social nature, he will, just like his mom Doris, quickly understand how wonderful indoor life on the good side of the fence is. Due to his size and energy, a house with a well-secured, spacious, and safe garden is an absolute requirement. Here he can unwind, safely do his business, and stretch his legs after his journey.

About Hope

What life with Hope looks like

Hope is a large young adult dog waiting at Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue in Meppel (NL-wide).

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡³πŸ‡±Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hope, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hope?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hope on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hope if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Hope already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hope isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Lucky Dogs Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hope and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
