Angus

Male · Adult · 7 years

If you're looking for a cuddle buddy then your search is over! Angus has ambitions of being a lap dog and folds his legs as small as he can in an attempt to get close to his favourite people. He gets very excited when he sees his handlers and just adores being made a fuss of, and loves being taken out for his walks. When out and about, Angus is strong on his lead and his carers have worked on his interactions with other dogs, and he can now walk close to others without worry. He's a confident boy who loves to explore new spaces and views any bed as his own, quickly plonking himself down in one! Angus arrived in our care as a stray, and we're pretty sure he has been used as a working dog as he has scars on his face and is missing a small part of his lip. It doesn't hinder him in any way and certainly doesn't affect his strong, handsome face. Due to his background, we do walk Angus muzzled to protect our wildlife, and he isn't bothered one bit by this. Angus is a very loving dog who deserves a brighter future at the heart of a family. He's a joy to be with and will bring immense pleasure to his new family. Angus is looking for a home where he will be the only dog, and any children over the age of 14. He is house trained but will need someone at home with him all day initially whilst he settles in, as he has previously shown signs of being distressed if left alone. He will need multiple meets at the centre and a sleepover or two before going home for good.

About Angus

What life with Angus looks like

Angus is a small adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Merseyside in Liverpool.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Separation anxiety - needs someone home initially. Must be walked muzzled to protect wildlife due to working dog background. Has facial scars and missing part of lip.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Angus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Angus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Merseyside handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Angus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Angus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Merseyside will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Angus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Angus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Merseyside early rather than rehoming privately; they know Angus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
