Daphne

Support and Health How much training will I need? Needs ongoing support Can I be left alone? No Daphne struggles being left home alone, in her previous home her owners never left her and made sure there was always someone around. They worked hard with her so that she felt comfortable being in other rooms without them, but she will need someone at home all of the time while she has her training slowly worked on. Do I have any medical conditions? History of Daphne has historic medical conditions, namely ear infections, that will require consideration before this pet is rehomed. Our rehoming team will be able to give you further information if you apply to rehome Daphne and you are a successful match. We would also advise that any medical conditions, be that historic or ongoing, are discussed with your own vet prior to taking them home. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? Yes Can I live with cats? No Can I live with small pets? No Additional information Daphne could live with a medium-sized or larger dog. She generally ignores other dogs when out on walks, although she has made a few friends that she absolutely loves! She has also met several other dogs politely, usually with a quick greeting. More recently, Daphne has been living with a Cockapoo, and the two of them have got on very well. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Daphne can live with teenagers, 11+. Once she’s been given time to build a relationship she gets very excited to see you and loves to have cuddles, but will take herself away when she’s had all the attention she wants. What type of environment would suit me? Daphne will need a secure garden with 6ft fencing so she’s got a safe space to burn off her energy, zoom around and play with her toys. Daphne LOVES her toys! Soft toys are her favourite, she is quite independent with her play and usually takes her toys off to herself. She is very vocal when she plays and gets very growly- a typical Lurcher! Sometimes she will bring a toy over to you to play tug or fetch with. About Daphne Daphne is a young lurcher with a big heart and an even bigger love for her people. She forms strong bonds with those she trusts and thrives on companionship, so she can find it difficult when left on her own. One of Daphne’s favourite things in the world is zooming around at top speed, making a secure garden the perfect place for her to burn off energy and have fun. She loves playing with her toys, especially tossing them around and entertaining herself with a game. Daphne has so much love to give and will make a wonderful addition to a home that can offer her the time, reassurance, and affection she craves.

About Daphne

What life with Daphne looks like

Daphne is a large adult dog waiting at Woodgreen Pets Charity in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Daphne, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Daphne?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Woodgreen Pets Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Daphne on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Daphne if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Woodgreen Pets Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Daphne already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Daphne isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Woodgreen Pets Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Daphne and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
