Adopt ANTOINE

Male · Adult · 7 years

Abandoned: 11/13/2019 Race: Large White Sex: Male Microchip: 813695 Born: 05/15/2019 Country: Belgium At the shelter since: 11/13/2019 ANTOINE is a pig who lived a difficult life in an industrial farm. Destined for fattening and then slaughter, his fate seemed sealed. However, an unexpected event changed the course of his life: the gravel floor of his enclosure collapsed, entraining ANTOINE and other pigs into a manure pit. This accident made them unsuitable for consumption. Although their situation was desperate, the intervention of the firefighters was decisive. One of the firefighters, touched by their fate, had the idea of contacting shelters rather than having them euthanized. Thanks to this initiative, a dozen pigs, including ANTOINE, were able to be welcomed into shelters, thus receiving a second chance. Ironically, it was this fall that saved their lives. ANTOINE is an extremely gentle and affectionate pig who loves to receive scratches. He retains an affectionate nature and enjoys interactions with humans. However, with other pigs, ANTOINE shows that he knows how to assert himself: he makes it clear to them that he is the leader. This combination of gentleness towards humans and leadership with his fellow pigs makes him a unique animal who deserves all the love and attention we can give him. The animal must live with at least one other fellow pig and have access to a water source. Adoption is possible only with a "permit to detain an animal." For more information, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 204 49 50. This animal needs to be the only pet in the home.

About ANTOINE

What life with ANTOINE looks like

ANTOINE is a adult dog waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting ANTOINE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ANTOINE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ANTOINE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ANTOINE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ANTOINE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ANTOINE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know ANTOINE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
