‼️LOOKING FOR A HOME FOR OVER 3 YEARS‼️ Do you know this kid who leans against the walls at parties? Or this guy who moves back and forth and spends half an hour showing off before approaching to ask... an hour? This is the story of Antoni Anton who is very shy - especially at first - both with dogs and people. He likes to carefully observe the situation, best from a distance - give himself time, look around and think about the next step. He came to us from a rural farm, where no one cared about the animals. And this neglected, barked-at kid, who was never given even a moment of attention and never shown that people are cool, ended up in a big animal shelter, where he still feels lost. That's why on the yard, he's usually "leaning against the walls" sitting by the fence hoping that someone will open the gate to the park and finally Antoś can go wild. Yes, yes! You read correctly! Go wild, because under this thick layer of shyness hides an energetic and naturally cheerful, very creative dog! No one believes us, and since Anton is also ashamed of the camera, it's very hard to catch him playing carefree with friends and there's no evidence to be found! You have to come - and not just once, believe it, see it with your own eyes. Anton has been using a survival strategy for over three years now and has been "leaning against the walls" until today, looking at us with full requests in his eyes to take him away, while losing all his youth in the process. VERY URGENTLY needs to leave the animal shelter - there is no chance here for the tragic situation of this young dog to change in real time. Anton needs a special home - one with a garden, some space, so he can recover and make friends with the residents at his own pace. He should also have dog companionship for comfort and understanding caregivers who believe in him. We are convinced that in calm, home conditions, under the care of people who finally give him time and attention, Anton will make rapid progress.

About Anton

What life with Anton looks like

Anton is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Extremely shy dog needing patient rehabilitation after 3+ years in shelter

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anton, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anton?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anton if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anton isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
