Adopt Apache

German Shepherd · Male · Senior · 11 years

Meet Apache - a German Shepherd type dog, as loyal and intelligent as members of this breed. The first walk with Apache is like walking with the best friend who nuzzles you, encourages play. From the very first moment, he sees a human as his guide. In a space free of other dogs, Apache feels much better. In silence, alone with a person, he shows his true character. He is warm, attentive, touching. Despite his age, he has the mentality of a young dog - full of joy and willingness to play. He is also an excellent passenger - left alone on the back seat, he can calmly go through the whole trip, not disturbing the driver. In 2025, he participated in many trips to public parks. There, he kept a distance from other walkers, choosing the company of a person and quiet paths on the sidelines. Today, trips are somewhat limited due to the condition of his paws, but that does not mean the end of walks! You can always vary them with scent games, playing with a stick or lying together in the grass - this is his favorite way to spend time. We are looking for a home for Apache in a quiet area, although we do not exclude an apartment in the city - it is important that he has access to a working elevator or an apartment on the ground floor. Due to dysplasia and age, Apache is in urgent adoption. We are worried whether he will survive another winter in the shelter box. Apache is looking only for a home without other dogs. He is positively disposed towards children. We don't know his attitude towards cats.

Matylda 664733607 Agnieszka 692760589

About Apache

What life with Apache looks like

Apache is a large senior german shepherd dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Hip dysplasia, mobility issues with paws, requires ground floor or elevator access

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Apache, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Apache?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Apache on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Apache if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Apache already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Apache isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Apache and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
