Apollo (D)

Doberman · Male · Puppy

Apollo (D) RESERVED ID number: 1061117 Breed: Doberman mix Age: approx. 09/2022 Gender: male Shoulder height: approx. 60 cm Neutered/Spayed: Yes Country: Germany Stay/Location: Goch Postcode: 47574 Foster home wanted Sponsorship wanted! Apollo – A big boy who wants to learn... Apollo (*approx. 09/2022, 60 cm) is a strikingly handsome, very active Doberman mix with endless potential. To showcase this potential, he currently needs a lot of rest and a safe, reliable framework. He is extremely active and enjoys running, sprints for his life, and sniffs for mice in the forest and vineyards with his best nose. He also loves to cool off in the water, including wild splashing. When a ball is involved, he forgets everything around him and loses himself in the pursuit. He therefore needs consciously dosed, head-demanding activity instead of random ball throwing, which reduces his arousal level sustainably and does him good in the long run. Apollo is house-trained, stays alone without problems and can even sleep relaxed in the office. He enjoys being around people and shows himself friendly and approachable in his work environment, a quiet rehabilitation facility. Just as important to him is sufficient time to arrive and wind down, he needs fixed rest zones and real breaks instead of being constantly in the middle of things. He currently lives completely problem-free with a confident female dog. If another dog clearly sets boundaries for him, he accepts it without hesitation. When interacting with other dogs, he still needs gentle guidance from experienced people, as a free game can quickly overwhelm him. Apollo learns very quickly and enjoys learning. He is very curious and quickly gets excited, which is why he needs calm, predictable attention and absolutely calm, composed people who meet him lovingly and confidently. He still needs good, positive training on a leash; especially when meeting small or wildly playing dogs, calm guidance and sufficient distance are required. A forward-looking walk with a clear structure helps him very much to stay relaxed. He is used to wearing a muzzle and can be easily muzzled. He needs some support and stress-reducing measures when driving, then he quickly finds his calm. What Apollo needs most urgently now are people who work with him calmly, clearly and needs-oriented, completely without pressure or physical corrections. He needs people who recognize his boundaries and give him the time he needs. A calm, understanding framework is essential for his training, so that he feels safe and understood. The ideal home is a dog-experienced household without children, where he is not expected to function like a dog in drill. Athletic people with experience in demanding working or sighthound breeds, who meet him with calmness, clear structure, humor and loving patience, are just right for him. Apollo originally comes from our Spanish partner animal shelter Triple A and is vaccinated, chipped and neutered. He has an EU pet passport and was tested negative for Mediterranean diseases in January 2026. You are welcome to meet him at his foster home near 47574 Goch by appointment. Apollo (D)RESERVIERT ID-Nr: 1061117 Rasse: Dobermann-Mischling Alter: ca. 09/2022 Geschlecht: männlich Schulterhöhe: ca. 60 cm Kastriert/Sterilisiert: Ja Land: Deutschland Aufenthalt / Ort: Goch PLZ: 47574 Pflegestelle gesucht Patenschaft gesucht! About Apollo (D)

What life with Apollo (D) looks like

Apollo (D) is a large puppy doberman dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Apollo (D), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Apollo (D)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Apollo (D) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Apollo (D) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Apollo (D) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Apollo (D) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Apollo (D) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
