Archie

Male · Senior · 11 years

Archie South East Adoption fee is £250 11 years old Male, miniature (6.3kg) Wire haired brindle Neutered Archie is a handsome wire haired neutered mini dachshund who is looking for a loving, calm home with no other pets. He currently lives in a home with 2 younger dogs and there has now become conflict between him and the youngest one. His family are looking for a home that can give him the peace and calm he needs. Archie has a lovely personality and loves attention and cuddles from people. He likes walks but doesn’t get many nowadays due to the pack dynamic. Walks would need to be built up slowly as he has recently suffered from back pain. This is now managed with medication and is working well, it doesn’t affect his mobility at all. He can be barky towards other dogs he doesn’t know but doesn’t show any aggression. He can be left for periods of time but any longer than 4 hours and he’s likely to have accidents in the home. Archie loves his people and is a loyal and affectionate little dog who loves nothing better than curling up on a knee and getting cuddles. About Archie

What life with Archie looks like

Archie is a small senior dog waiting at The Red Foundation in Pentlow Street.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Archie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Archie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Red Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Archie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Archie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Red Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Archie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Archie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Red Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Archie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
