Arctic

Pomeranian · Female · Adult · 7 years

Arctic has come to us from a breeder in search of her very first home. She was adopted for a short period of time but has since found her way back to us as the home was not quite the right fit. Although the adoption was unsuccessful, it did help Arctic gain some confidence, which has been a huge milestone for her. Arctic is a worried little lady who was extremely frightened when she was initially adopted. Since returning to us, however, we have seen a significant improvement in her confidence. While she remains an anxious dog, she is trying her very best to be brave and continues to make steady progress. She is still very worried about handling and can become overwhelmed if pushed too far, and may make a wrong decision, so any interactions with her must be done at her pace. She will now allow handling when approached calmly and gently, but she will need understanding adopters who are willing to continue building her trust over the long term. Because of her sensitive nature, Arctic is looking for a calm and quiet adult-only home with adopters who have experience with nervous ex-breeding dogs. She has always taken great comfort from the company of other dogs and relies heavily on them for reassurance. Arctic must be rehomed with at least two kind and confident resident dogs who can help guide her through life in a home environment. While she enjoys canine company, she does have quite a strong personality and can be a little bossy at times, so her future doggy friends will need to be tolerant of her occasional princess-like tendencies. Apart from her brief adoption, Arctic has never lived in a home before, so many aspects of family life will still be new to her. She will need continued support with house training, lead walking, and learning that the world is not such a scary place. With time, patience and consistency, we are confident she will continue to grow in confidence and develop into a happier dog. Over the time she has spent back with us, Arctic has blossomed into a little princess who is ready to be spoiled as she deserves. Although she may never be the type of dog who wants to curl up on your lap, she has already shown how much progress she is capable of making. With a gentle and experienced home, we are sure she will continue moving forwards and gaining confidence. Arctic has some fur loss, which we hope will improve following her spay and with plenty of TLC. She also has an enlarged mammary gland, but our vets are not concerned about this at present. In addition, she is currently receiving treatment for sore skin on her backend. These conditions will be considered pre-existing and are therefore unlikely to be covered by standard pet insurance policies. Arctic is a sweet and sensitive little Pom who simply needs understanding, patience and time. With a peaceful home, plenty of love, and a supportive group of canine companions by her side, we believe she will continue to come out of her shell and show just how far she can go. For the right family, helping Arctic on her journey will be an incredibly rewarding experience. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Arctic

What life with Arctic looks like

Arctic is a extra-large adult pomeranian dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arctic, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arctic?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arctic on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arctic if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arctic already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arctic isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arctic and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
