adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this cat! Aristoteles has found a home! His story: Aristoteles is a shy and very cautious cat. He spends most of her day on elevated spots, observing her surroundings. She doesn't like to be handled and requires special patience to build trust. Her past was difficult: she was rescued from a garage by police intervention, where cats had been held for years. Aristoteles was the only survivor of four cats. Upon her rescue, she had an eye infection and missing teeth, likely due to poor husbandry and neglect. The eye infection was successfully treated. Before her rescue, she had seen very little sunlight, which explains her cautious behavior towards people and her environment. Aristoteles generally gets along with other cats, and a husbandry with an animal companion is possible. Due to her FIV status, a free roam is not allowed. A networked balcony, where she can observe her surroundings, would be a welcome addition, but it is not a requirement. Her compatibility with dogs is unknown. She is suitable for people who can give her time and space to build trust. Aristoteles tested positive for FIV. This is no reason not to adopt her if you are in love with her. FIV is a viral disease that can weaken the immune system. However, FIV-positive cats can live just as long as FIV-negative cats. The virus is transmissible only to other cats – humans or other animal species cannot be infected. Transmission to cats could only occur with severe bite injuries. Both FIV-positive and negative cats can live together in a household, share litter boxes and cuddle spots, provided they are compatible. Transmission through mating is also possible, but not in neutered cats. Due to her condition, Aristoteles cannot have a free roam. She is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Aristoteles is searching for a sanctuary. She brings her EU pet passport with her. A foster home is also an option to help her acclimate to her new life and provide her with safety. Taking in Aristoteles means gaining a reserved but loyal companion who brings warmth, peace, and special joy to your home when trust is built. A heartfelt thank you goes to Aristoteles's godmother Drea N., who named her and thus made the first step into a loving life possible. As of: 14.11. This cat needs outdoor access.

Stand: 30.08.2026

About Aristoteles

What life with Aristoteles looks like

Aristoteles is a large senior mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aristoteles, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aristoteles?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aristoteles on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aristoteles if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aristoteles already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aristoteles isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aristoteles and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
