Arlo

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Arlo is a gorgeous 14 month old lad whose mum has had to make this very sad decision to find him a new home after several changes in her personal circumstances. Arlo is a very energetic, happy, friendly lad who loves to snuggle on the sofa with either his mum or her 3 year son. He is a quick learner and remebers his lessons very well. He is easily distracted and his excitably nature means lessons can’t happen when you plan but once he’s settled and ready to learn, then he will give all the love he has. When left alone he gets upset but does eventually settle in his crate enjoying the views out of the window, he has been left for 2 hours after exercise and was extremely excited on their return. He has been wonderful with the 3 year old in the home, he’s playful, loving and friendly – his mum would advise he remains moitored due to his excitability. He’s also wonderful with older children and enjoys their company. Around other dogs Arlo is confident and friendly; his energy can be a lot for other dogs, but he’s only ever been extremely playful. He hasn’t lived with or come across cats so his behaviour is unknown, he’s very curios while on lead around livestock, so controlled introductions would be needed. Arlo is still very young but already responds well to several commands - In, sit, come, here. Arlo will sit and wait for the command to eat his dinner, can sit and wait for the command to jump into and out of the car and go into the house. All training will need to be continued to help Arlo be the best version of himself that he can be. He’s excited to travel and knows going in the car means they are out for big walks. He has also been on the ferry to the Isle of Man and was no bother around other dogs or other passengers and children. Arlo is still too young to be neutered but this will be done as part of our Adoption Contract, he is vaccinated until July 25 including kennel cough. We understand that Arlo is a really wonderful youngster who’s owner has spent time socialising him and introducing him to lots of dogs, children, places etc the only reason that he hasn’t been snapped up is geography because Arlo is in Forres, Scotland. If you feel you can give this much loved lad the exercise and attention that he loves please contact us. About Arlo

What life with Arlo looks like

Arlo is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arlo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arlo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arlo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arlo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arlo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arlo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arlo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
