Adopt Aron

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

During our project tour in June 2025, we of course also visited our partner animal shelter in Arzachena. There were some new arrivals that we wanted to get to know. And we were also looking forward to seeing some familiar fur noses again. Among the new arrivals was Aron, who was found homeless and brought to the Canile. We do not know what happened to him before he arrived at the Canile. However, it seemed that he had not only been poorly treated, as he behaved in a way that made it clear he had to be immediately taken into our hearts. He greeted us joyfully as soon as we entered the enclosure. And barely had Wolfgang settled at the door to the hut, when Aron was already by his side, wanting to be stroked. He enjoyed the affection very much, and could not get enough of it. What immediately caught our attention was the strange position of his hind legs, which made his walking a bit "waddly." He did not seem to have any pain. We will consult a vet as soon as Aron arrives in Germany. After our photo session, he still looked at us for a long time. This really tugged at our hearts, and we hope that soon the chance will arise for the extremely friendly and people-oriented Aron to leave the Canile behind and travel to Germany—to loving people who will give him his forever home and include him in all family activities. If you are currently on the lookout for a new fur-nosed family member and are aware that adoption means not only a lot of joy but also work and great responsibility, then we look forward to your message. We facilitate adoptions nationwide.

Was uns sofort auffiel, war die merkwürdige Stellung seiner Hinterpfoten, was beim Gehen etwas "watschelig" wirkte.

About Aron

What life with Aron looks like

Aron is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
