Arthur &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Arthur is in our care because his human sadly passed away in November. He is currently housed at our foster home in the Hundepension Grisette in the Jura. He originally came from Hungary and traveled to Switzerland in 2020. Unfortunately, we do not have much information about his past at the moment. Arthur (approximately 38cm) is a friendly and affectionate dog. Even though he is not entirely comfortable with everything just yet, we are convinced that with lots of love and affection, he will overcome everything and adapt quickly to the new situation. He does not seem to like cats, but he gets along well with fellow animals. Arthur needs caring people who can show him patience and understanding. He would also be a great fit for a family with slightly older and responsible children. Arthur can be adopted as a second dog to a confident and friendly only dog, but he would also be very happy as a single dog. Arthur is vaccinated, microchipped, and will be rehomed in cooperation with the Tierschutzbund Basel Regional. For more information, pictures, and/or videos about Arthur, please visit the Hundepension Grisette's website: our area. If you are interested in our dogs and would like to meet them informally, please apply using the button below, and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can also apply directly at the Hundepension Grisette where Arthur is currently housed: if there is an answering machine, please leave a message, they will call you back, or you can contact them via email: __EMAIL__. We appreciate your understanding if the processing of your application takes a little longer. We will do our best to give you a response as soon as possible.

About Arthur &#8211

What life with Arthur &#8211 looks like

Arthur &#8211 is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arthur &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arthur &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arthur &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arthur &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arthur &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arthur &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arthur &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
