adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Artos is a young male dog who shows typical behavior for his age: playful, energetic, and open in contact with people. He seeks proximity, enjoys attention, and likes to be right in the middle of things. At the same time, he brings the energy of a young dog and explores everything curiously that happens around him. He comes from a litter of seven puppies. The mother, a medium-sized female dog, had retreated to the property of an older woman after bad experiences with people and gave birth to her puppies there. With support, the mother could be secured and neutered, while a part of the puppies—including Artos—came into our care. Today, Artos shows himself as a friendly and social young dog. He gets along well with other dogs and knows cats. Visually and character-wise, an Herdenschutzhund-Malamute-mix could be in Artos. Both breeds bring special qualities. Herdenschutzhunde are independent, vigilant, and loyal. They like to make their own decisions and require people who meet them with calmness, clarity, and sovereignty. Alaskan Malamutes, on the other hand, were originally bred for hard work, are intelligent, enduring, and energetic, but often also have an independent character. Both breeds require not only physical exertion but also mental stimulation as well as a close bond with their people. Therefore, we wish for Artos a home with people who have already dealt with the characteristics of such dogs or are willing to engage intensively with them. An rural and quiet environment with plenty of space would be ideal for him. Life in a home still lies ahead for Artos. He must learn daily routines, house training, quiet phases, and also being alone. Leash manners are also something he still needs to learn from the ground up. Also, the puberty of Artos will not be missing. In this phase, boundaries are tested, learned things are questioned, and not everything always works reliably. With patience, clear structures, and reliable guidance, this time can be well accompanied. A positively working dog training class can be a valuable support and help in creating a good foundation for a shared life from the start. Artos is looking for people who will accompany him lovingly but consistently and give him the time to develop at his own pace. He is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and travels with an EU pet passport. Many thanks to his namesake Jeanette F., who gave him his name. As of: 09.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 09.05.2026

About Artos

What life with Artos looks like

Artos is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Artos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Artos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Artos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Artos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Artos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Artos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Artos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
