Home » Adoptions » cats in search of a family » Ava Ava I was born on: October 10, 2015 I've been here since: June 2023 I like to: play, and people! I don't like to: feel ignored. I found my home: ohhh... not yet. Imagine a magnificent tabby cat: her fur shines, her sparkling eyes light up with joy when she sees you, her little belly is ready to be petted when the kitten twists in a basket, asking for your attention. Imagine her always being there to greet you when you come home from work, looking at you with so much love that you can't help but pick her up and kiss her. And now, imagine this cat probably will never leave our shelter, because she is FIV positive. Her name is Ava and she was taken from the streets by a person who initially intended to keep her. She's not young, and as expected, when she found out she was FIV positive, she contacted us to take her, so she wouldn't put her back on the streets. She had her vaccinated, tested, and offered to help with veterinary costs for tartar removal and extractions, if needed. Well, that last part never happened, but we are already used to it and don't care anymore, we just do what needs to be done and what is best for the cat in our care. That's how Ava came to us, a bit weak and a bit confused, but both things changed very quickly. She adapted perfectly and is even round and plump. Life on the streets would have meant zero medical care, insufficient food, not protected or sheltered from dangers. Ava is a proud cat who loves people but is not very enthusiastic about other cats, especially when they are persistent or want to stand in front of her when it comes to cuddles. But with us, she is simply super sweet, loving, and enjoys being the center of attention. Well, of course, she has her limits and moments, she can be sometimes annoyed or "rude." We call these cats "queens" or "royal ladies" and we just love them for what they are - beauties with attitude, but that makes them even more special. Even though we know the chances are very low, we decided to write her story. And even if no family ever appears, at least some people will see her and maybe think: "Wow, what a beautiful cat!" Secretly, however, we hope that one of these people will seriously consider taking Ava under their protection, to love her at least as much as we do, and to give her a life without worries and full of happiness. And now, imagine Ava in her own home, standing on a sofa with her human mom or dad, while being petted, and she purrs with happiness. Wouldn't that just be AMAZING? Adopt me! Adopt me from afar! Adopting a kitten from our shelter is done based on an adoption contract. Why? Because we care! The conditions imposed by the association Friends of Cats are easy to follow when the person adopting is responsible and truly loves the cats. Thank you!

Home » Adoptii » Pisici in cautarea unei familii » Ava Ava M-am nascut in: 10 octombrie 2015 Sunt aici din: iunie 2023 Imi place sa: ma joc, si oamenii! About Ava

What life with Ava looks like

Ava is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Prietenii Pisicilor Oradea in Oradea.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ava, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ava?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Prietenii Pisicilor Oradea handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ava on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ava if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Prietenii Pisicilor Oradea will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ava already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ava isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Prietenii Pisicilor Oradea early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ava and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (RO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
