Ava

Female · Young · 1 year

I am a beautiful Pharaoh Hound, almost two years old and full of energy. If you are looking for a cozy couch companion, I am sorry to disappoint you - my greatest happiness is found outdoors in nature! Running is my absolute favorite activity. I love to move, discover new paths and be active with my humans. That's why I am looking for a family that likes to be on the go as much as I do and can give me the daily exercise I need. I am friendly and loving with people. I enjoy every petting session and cherish the time with my two-legged friends. I also get along very well with other dogs and show myself to be social and open-minded towards them. I have not met cats yet, so I can't say how I would react to them. I am looking for people who know that a sporty dog needs not only exercise, but also shared experiences, occupation and time. If you are up for long walks, hikes, jogging or other adventures, we could become the perfect team. I promise you: with me you will get a loyal companion who will go through thick and thin with you - as long as we are together. Maybe my forever home is waiting for me right with you. I can't wait to get to know you! ❤️🐕

About Ava

What life with Ava looks like

Ava is a large young adult dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg in Wolfsberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ava, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ava?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ava on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ava if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ava already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ava isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ava and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
