AWI

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 12 years

Birth year: 2014 AWI is a wonderful dog who, despite not being the youngest, has not lost his vigor and puppy-like charm. AWI was once someone's, he had a home. Why did the owner lose interest in this amazing dog? We will never know the answer to this question. Despite this difficult experience, AWI remains a very happy dog who tries to make the best of the time spent with the caregiver. On walks, he sniffs a lot and runs, he won't turn down a ball or another toy. He ignores other dogs, comes eagerly when called, sits in front of the caregiver and waits for the desired reward. AWI is a wonderful, balanced and friendly dog, and spending time with him is pure pleasure and an amazing adventure. Will luck still be on his side? Will he find a beloved person? We really want to believe it, and AWI hasn't stopped either.

About AWI

What life with AWI looks like

AWI is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze in Zielona Góra.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting AWI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about AWI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw AWI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt AWI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is AWI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if AWI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze early rather than rehoming privately; they know AWI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
