Baby

Border Collie · Female · Young · 1 year

Baby, spayed, mixed breed Border Collie, 11.5 months, tall about 43 cm, foreign country. Background. Baby was left in an open field a few months ago, as a pup, without shelter or a chance to find something to eat. Some people were working on a construction site and Baby followed them to the nearest village. There she found shelter near a school. She got some food and loved interacting with the children around the school. Then came the Christmas holiday and the school closed, leaving Baby alone. On a freezing winter day, our contact person found her and gave her something to eat. Baby decided to follow her to her house and since then the puppy has been staying in her shelter. Character. Baby is a very intelligent dog; she adapts easily and has a good memory. She is very social towards people and other dogs and loves children. Unusual for a stray dog, she really trusts people. Baby is still a pup, cheerful and full of energy. She loves to run and play and really needs this to burn off her energy. Everything she finds is her toy and she amuses herself with it. Who will give sweet Baby a golden basket?

NL·Show original

Baby, gesteriliseerd teefje, kruising Border Collie, 1 jaar, hoog ca. 43 cm, buitenland. Achtergrond.

About Baby

What life with Baby looks like

Baby is a large young adult border collie dog waiting at Stichting AAI in Amsterdam.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting AAI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting AAI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting AAI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
