Teuntje

Male · Young · 2 years

FOR SALE (Joke, I'm unaffordable): Teuntje the cheerful Teen! Hi! I'm Teuntje. I'm a lady of almost 2 years (23 months to be exact) and I'm a unique mix of a Saint Bernard and a Swiss Mountain Dog. That means I have the looks of a photo model and the size of a small pony. What am I looking for? I'm looking for an owner who stands firmly on their feet (literally, because I'm quite big). Someone who looks at my teenage antics with humor, but also gives me clear guidance and structure. Someone who helps me learn what is expected of me. A garden is an absolute must, because I love being the "Queen of the Outdoor". Why would you want me? Despite the fact that I sometimes have my own plans, I have a heart of pure gold. I'm super loving, a little clumsy, and I promise that life with me will never be boring. How can we become a top team? At my animal shelter, the adoption process works in a unique way so we can have a fantastic start:

Waarom jij mij wilt?Ondanks dat ik soms mijn eigen plannen trek, heb ik een hart van puur goud. Ik ben superlief, een tikkeltje lomp en ik beloof dat het leven met mij nooit saai is. About Teuntje

What life with Teuntje looks like

Teuntje is a small young adult dog waiting at Dierentehuis Zoetermeer in Zoetermeer.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teuntje, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teuntje?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis Zoetermeer handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teuntje on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teuntje if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierentehuis Zoetermeer will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teuntje already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teuntje isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis Zoetermeer early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teuntje and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
