Bailey

Labrador Retriever · Male · Young · 2 years

Bailey is a charming Chihuahua looking for a new home where he can settle in and explore at his own pace. He is based at Battersea Old Windsor. Bailey can be a little worried when he first meets new people and can have a bark and grumble, however once he gets to know you his affectionate side shines through quickly. In his previous home, Bailey absolutely loved attention. Bailey prefers human company and would be happiest as the only pet in the home. He tends to be quite independent around other dogs and would rather enjoy his own space than share it. We have seen that he prefers to meet calmer dogs on walks and we would advise new owners to keep him socialised with appropriate dogs. He can sometimes be a little sensitive in new areas or when there are loud noises so Bailey is looking to live in a quiet location with his own private and secure garden. Bailey doesn’t enjoy being left alone for long periods and would thrive in a home where someone is around for most of the day. He’s happiest when he has company and can stay close to his favourite people. Bailey is a loving boy that will make a fun addition to his new family. About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is a young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
