BAILEY

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

BAILEY is not yet available for adoption; we will first take care of him for a while and get to know him. However, you can contact us by email to sponsor him and finance his training courses, which would be a great help! BAILEY is a one-year-old Labrador, born on August 1, 2025, microchipped and vaccinated. He weighs 35kg, but he will need to lose one or two kilos. He was entrusted to us because he is full of energy and was not taken out enough, resulting in destructions during absences (much too long), and difficulty walking him because he explodes during walks. BAILEY is a loulou who will need to regain confidence in humans. He spent the first six months of his life locked in a cage and was only taken out for walks. He has been prevented from smelling odors during walks, which is the dog's main sense. He is therefore currently rather angry with humans: whenever he has a setback, he grabs the leash, pulls it very hard and doesn't let go, jumps on us, and is very powerful. He has well understood that his strength helps him get what he wants. He is not a dangerous dog, but it is fortunate that he is with us now and not in a few months or years. The fact that he comes from a working line certainly accentuates his behaviors, as he was selected to have a higher level of energy and more temperament to excel in the breed's disciplines. We will have him neutered soon despite his young age, as he is harassing dogs and this can lead to conflicts with them. Once the hormones have subsided, we are convinced that he will be completely sociable with his peers. We are also able to make him coexist with a group of dogs that we have carefully chosen. For the moment, he does not seek contact with us. This makes him very emotional. We can see that he is a nice dog whose needs have not been respected, and we will take him back in hand for a while before proposing him for adoption. This will consist in seeking his calm, especially by offering him long walks in nature, baths because of course he loves it (muddy dog, happy dog), respecting his preference for the moment not to have physical contact with us. We will also have to channel his outbursts when they occur, and teach him to manage frustration on a daily basis. Thank you for contacting us in advance by phone or email.

About BAILEY

What life with BAILEY looks like

BAILEY is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SOS Animaux 78 in sos animaux 78.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting BAILEY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BAILEY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS Animaux 78 handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BAILEY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BAILEY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS Animaux 78 will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BAILEY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BAILEY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS Animaux 78 early rather than rehoming privately; they know BAILEY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
