Bailey

Romanian Street Dog · Female · Young · 3 years

Baily is a dog that people who deal with various dog breeds a lot would call a "classical Romanian mix." A young female dog who has already gone through several stages in her life—rescued from Romania, the sweet puppy quickly found shelter under the table and started to see other people as her main point of reference. Baily notices that her people can be "dogs" and has a fine sense of body language, making the young female dog a super open and cheerful puppy. Baily acts—and is—in certain situations with strangers very insecure. Here, she must learn from her people that strangers are not something she is responsible for. Nevertheless, she is a fundamentally very tough, strong female dog who knows exactly who she is and what she wants. Baily is an extremely sensitive female dog who reacts very well and finely to body language and can immediately assess her counterpart. This applies to both people and dogs. She is super group-friendly, gets along with every dog, and knows immediately whether she should follow the path of the "devoted little puppy" or the path of "come here and let me check you, these are my rules." Baily likes to play and be lively and would greatly benefit from a sovereign only dog in her new home. She is sporty and is looking for a home where she can be on the go with her person. For Baily, people who have a bit of experience with the typical Romanian dogs would be ideal. People who can handle the mix of sensitivity, insecurity with strangers, and territorial behavior, who can read body language very well, and are aware of their own behavior. People who know how to take Baily out of responsibility in certain situations, who do not necessarily expect a dog that welcomes visitors with open arms, people who have a calm and sensitive way of dealing with dogs. Then, they will get a dog with Baily who will prove to be an absolute cool companion in everyday life and bring a dreamy character with her. -> Back to the Dog Overview Interested? About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is a medium-sized young adult romanian street dog dog waiting at Tierschutzverein für Tirol in Innsbruck.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs socialization with strangers, territorial behavior management, requires understanding of Romanian street dog psychology

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für Tirol handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für Tirol will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für Tirol early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
