Baloo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Baloo, male neutered dog, born approximately 11/03/2021, about 38 cm, 12-13 kg Baloo was rescued from a municipal animal shelter; otherwise he would not have survived. Baloo still feels quite foreign in his new surroundings. He is very cuddly and relaxed when being petted. The initial examination was tolerated, but then he showed signs of exhaustion. He currently has a great fear of the leash. Maybe it was just the new situation, new people, new environment... he needs some time to adjust. He now lives at Asipa, our rescue station in Romania, and can recover there a bit. Otherwise, he is people-oriented and gets along with other dogs, but likes to be in charge. He sometimes teases smaller dogs. There is no further information about his background; it's difficult to say how he behaves in a domestic environment - he will certainly have much to learn. Of course, he still needs to learn a lot in the new family, including house training, leash walking and many more things. He has also not had any education so far on what life requires in a home environment. Everything related to a city will be unfamiliar to him; here you should introduce him gently and show how great everything is. He is a sweet little man, full of trust who seeks human closeness. Baloo is very friendly towards people and other dogs. He needs companionship, attention, and love. A dog school would be something great for him. Now the time has come for him to spend his life in a family that loves him and teaches him many things that are part of a happy dog's life. Baloo will be placed after a preliminary check, with a contract and payment of a deposit fee of €450. He is fully vaccinated and chipped and has an EU health certificate. Our dogs are fully vaccinated (basic immunization), treated preventively against parasites and chipped. They traveled to Germany with Traces papers. The greatest luck now is the loving family that will give him a home, love, and security. For more animals and information about us, please visit: tiernothilfe-ev.de

Baloo, kastr. About Baloo

What life with Baloo looks like

Baloo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baloo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baloo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baloo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baloo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baloo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baloo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Förderverein Tiernothilfe Siebenbürgen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baloo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
