Bambi

Mixed Breed · Unknown

The Cosoba shelter kennel is home to hundreds of homeless dogs. The shelter kennel is constantly extremely full, and Adina, who maintains the shelter, does not have the resources to take in any more animals for care. Because there are an enormous number of homeless dogs in Romania, the local people who support the shelter often come across individuals in need of help. In these cases, they turn to Adina, and eventually the dogs end up at Cosoba. This happened when a local woman found a neglected house with a group of ten dogs in the yard. No one had taken care of the dogs, so the woman asked Adina to take them to the shelter for safety. Among these ten dogs was a small Bambi, as well as her sister. The sister had already found a home in Finland, but unfortunately, Bambi was found to have a hip dysplasia on X-rays. Since then, she has been waiting patiently for her turn at the shelter kennel. Bambi is an extremely gentle personality. She lives in one of the smaller yards at the shelter among a group of larger dogs and easily avoids others by hiding in a corner. Although being stepped on by other dogs slightly worries her, she loves people. Therefore, when someone comes to greet her at the fence, Bambi quickly runs to the person. After the initial cautious introduction, she quickly warms up to new people and then doesn't do anything else but follow the person everywhere. Treats and pats are very much appreciated by Bambi, and she quickly jumps into the person's arms or onto their legs to ask for cuddles. Bambi is very quiet and unnoticed at the shelter kennel. She would definitely appreciate a quiet home where she could be with a lot of people and be spoiled. Bambi has been diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia in Romania. The shelter kennel's legs don't seem to bother her, but it is important for the future home to know that hips in Finland may require surgery or at least supportive treatment.

Cosoban tarhalla elää satoja kodittomia koiria. Tarha on jatkuvasti äärimmäisen täynnä, eikä tarhaa ylläpitävällä Adinalla olisi resursseja ottaa sinne enää yhtään lisää huolehdittavia. Koska Romaniassa kodittomia koiria on aivan valtava määrä, törmäävät myös tarhaa tukevat paikalliset usein apua tarvitseviin yksilöihin. Tällöin he kääntyvät Adinan puoleen ja lopulta koirat päätyvät Cosobaan. Bambi on äärettömän herttainen persoona. Bambilla on Romaniassa todettu molemminpuolinen lonkkavika. Tarhalla jalat eivät tunnu vaivaavan häntä, mutta tulevan kodin on tärkeää tiedostaa, että Suomessa lonkat voivat vaatia operaatioita tai vähintäänkin tukihoitoja.

About Bambi

What life with Bambi looks like

Bambi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bambi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bambi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bambi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bambi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bambi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bambi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bambi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
