adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Barny waits at the Public Shelter in Baia Mare for his chance – for a home that shows him what safety and security feel like. At around 9 months old, the young male dog has probably never lived in a family. Accordingly, he is rather cautious in his surroundings. The loud, stressful shelter life unsettles him, so he currently shows himself to be shy and reserved. He allows himself to be petted and stroked, but he cannot yet fully relax. Too much is still unfamiliar to him, and not enough gives him a sense of security. With his soft, light brown fur and dark facial mask, Barny is a beautiful young male dog who, when fully grown, is expected to reach a medium to large size. Behind his cautious gaze lies a sensitive dog who observes and wants to understand – and who primarily needs time to build trust. Barny is in the middle of puberty, an important developmental phase. Right now, a stable environment with clear, reliable structures is crucial. He will learn rules, test boundaries, and seek orientation. With patience, loving consistency, and a calm guidance, he can develop into a confident and reliable companion. Life in the house, house training, leash walking, and daily routines are still new to Barny. He will have to learn everything step by step. It is important not to overwhelm him and to give him the opportunity to adapt at his own pace. A quiet home – preferably in a rural or less stimulating environment – would greatly ease his start. A visit to a positively working dog training class can also help in building security and strengthening the bond to his people. Barny is searching for a home with understanding people who respect his sensitive nature and are ready to patiently accompany him on his journey. With the right support, the shy young dog can become a faithful companion who wants to walk through life by the side of his people. For the handsome Barny, we wish for a family that meets him patiently and affectionately and gives him enough time to find his footing in the new situation. We thank the namingsponsor Heike S. for giving the wonderful Barny his name. Additionally, you can support him with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 22.02. This animal is vaccinated.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Barny

What life with Barny looks like

Barny is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Barny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Barny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Barny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Barny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Barny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Barny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Barny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
