Barry

Degu · Male · Adult · 4 years

Hello there, I am Barry. I am looking for a male friend as I have been on my own for so long! I will need an experienced owner as I haven't had a great start to life and people scare me, I haven't been handled much and startle easily. Unfortunately when I have been startled, I have accidently had a nibble, I didn't mean it, I was just scared. Please be patient with me and help me to understand that human contact can be nice. If you have space for another little Degu in your life, needing a little more time and patience, the please fill out an enquiry form!

Frequently asked

Adopting Barry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Barry?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Norwich handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Barry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Barry if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a animal can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask RSPCA Norwich what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Barry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a animal comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask RSPCA Norwich directly what is included and what Barry still needs.
What happens if Barry isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Norwich early rather than rehoming privately; they know Barry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
