Basil Junior

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Basil Junior carries genuine stray dog blood in Basil Juniors bloodline. Rarely do we know the parents of our shelterlings. Most often, puppies are found without a mother or father, with no knowledge of their origins. But Basil Junior and his siblings, Willow, Herb, and Rose, are different. They are the offspring of a real stray dog that we had caught multiple times but failed to do so. She finally convinced herself that we only have good intentions for her and her offspring and allowed herself to be caught. Basil Juniors father is also a stray dog that we unfortunately have not been able to catch yet. A great burden is now lifted from the mother, as she no longer needs to worry about her children, and there will be no more offspring, as she will be spayed. Basil Junior is the reserved, somewhat shy one in the pack. Comical and simultaneously sweet, he waddles around with his sturdy legs and plump body. Now in the spring, where everything is blooming, there is an exciting secret behind every pustle flower. Basil Junior is a curious little fellow, but he is not as boisterous as his siblings. He is more of a thinker and observer. He has surely already received much of his loving mother’s affection, but many new impressions await the little dwarf in his new home, which he must process first. His future family should simply give him a little time to adjust and not overwhelm him. The big dog ABC can also learn well in dog training classes, where many playmates are waiting. Even though Basil Junior is currently still a small, cuddly puppy, we appreciate that he will grow into a substantial large dog who simply needs his space. A garden would therefore be a benefit for him. Basil Junior will surely be a faithful companion for his people. He embodies many positive qualities. He is friendly, curious, and playful. Since Basil is not the biggest hero and sometimes lacks courage, a friendly only-dog in the family would be beneficial. Children should already be more steadfast with our Basil. So, please call if you are looking for a furry friend! Postscript from the animal shelter: He is no longer reserved. He is always happy and playful.

About Basil Junior

What life with Basil Junior looks like

Basil Junior is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Basil Junior, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Basil Junior?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Basil Junior on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Basil Junior if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Basil Junior already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Basil Junior isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Basil Junior and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
