BEAR - KENT

Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 8 years

This gorgeous boy is in URGENT need of a new home. He is being left for many hours on his own. A difficult situation within his family means that he is now not getting the care that he deserves. He is entire, so wuill be adopted under a neuter contract. Children: Good with all ages Dogs: has lived with other GSDs Cats: Unknown Livestock: Unknown Reaction to Visitors: no reaction at all Bear is good on a lead but not used to being controlled. He does pull to something interesting, but it is not mindless. Bear has had very limited experience of going to the vets. He was only vaccinated as a pup and has had no health issues. Allowed the volunteer to check him all over without complaint. A well-balanced calm boy, who exhibits all the good qualities of a gentle shepherd. He allowed the volunteer into the home without a peep and wanted to stay close by whilst chatting to the owner’s daughter. He has a fantastic shiny coat although he needs a groom. Out walking one small dog, 3 hounds and a dog at the end of the drive were seen. He pulled gently to say hello to the first 4 and took no interest in the one at the end of the drive. Walked well, stopped to sniff a lot but didn’t really pull. The owner’s daughter feels he is too big to walk but the volunteer felt it was more her lack of confidence due to his size, rather than any fault in the dog. Seems in good health, fit and agile for his age. The volunteer did not see or feel there were any issues of concern. He felt Bear was the calmest shepherd he has met in his 6 years of assessing. And stunning looking. More information Gender: Male Age: 8 YEARS Color: Black & Tan Coat: Short Neutered: No Good with other dogs: Yes Good with cats: Dont Know Good with children: Yes

About BEAR - KENT

What life with BEAR - KENT looks like

BEAR - KENT is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at German Shepherd Dog Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting BEAR - KENT, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BEAR - KENT?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. German Shepherd Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BEAR - KENT on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BEAR - KENT if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” German Shepherd Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is BEAR - KENT already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BEAR - KENT isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with German Shepherd Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know BEAR - KENT and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
