Beer

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Beer roamed around, terrorizing the neighborhood cats—as an unneutered tomcat. He was brought to our shelter via a trap cage. Unfortunately, no owner has come forward to claim him. Meanwhile, it’s high time for Beer to find a new home, because he’s completely ready for one and has become much more affectionate (and is now neutered as well). Beer is estimated to be 3 years old. Beer deserves his own forever home. Beer enjoys attention and loves getting a good petting every now and then. He doesn’t particularly like being picked up; in fact, he’ll even dare to bite or swat if he feels pressured. That’s why we’re looking for a home where he can take his time and have plenty of space to adjust at his own pace. We’ve been watching Beer blossom week by week. Since his arrival at our shelter, Beer had been suffering from diarrhea. But since we started feeding him Hill's Prescription Diet I/D Digestive Care kibble, Beer’s stool has improved dramatically. Fortunately, this food is only slightly more expensive than our standard food (Royal Canin Fit 32)*. It’s quite possible that Beer will need this food for the rest of his life. We’re not placing Beer in Yerseke to prevent him from wandering again.

NL·Show original

About Beer

What life with Beer looks like

Beer is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dierenasiel De Bevelanden in AE Goes.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Beer, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Beer?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel De Bevelanden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Beer on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Beer if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel De Bevelanden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Beer already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Beer isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel De Bevelanden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Beer and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
